64 Audio U12t > 64 Audio U18t
U12t is the superior IEM.
Okay, I disagree. But I'm interested in why you think the U12t is better than the U18t? Don't get me wrong the U12t is fantastic and if it was the TOTL I would be impressed. But the U18t is something very special. Good enough that I bought the custom A18t and will never get rid of them. They better coherent detail to my ears than almost any other IEM I've ever used.
U18t is bright as fuk. It gets annoying and unlistenable for me after about an hour. It literally pains my ears.
U18t fakes resolution. It is pretty resolving but the treble makes it sound more resolving than it actually is.
U18t bass texture is meh. U12t has better bass texture.
U12t midrange is more enagaging than U18t.
I need to hear both to decide which is better 😀
The U18t is very dependent on source. If you don’t pair it with a good source then it will not perform as well. The U12t on the other hand is actually designed to sound the same regardless of the source. Maybe that’s the difference your hearing @seamon67.
Way way way more interested in the U12T but the Tia Trio is the most interesting of the bunch for me.
Does the U18t have a long nozzle and no raised ridge to stop the tip from sliding down like the U12t? That was my only complaint of the U12t because I couldn't get a good seal as the tip kept sliding too far down and I was on the fence about buying it and I asked Barra for advice and he told me to get the custom model. I had previously never owned a CIEM and I had never spent that much on an IEM before and I was worried that I wouldn't like it and I'd be mad at myself, I liked it and it ended up being my #1 for a couple of years. It was between the Trio and A12t and I always thought I would buy the Trio, but I never did. Does the Trio get secret tweaks to keep up with new TOTL level IEMs? I was hoping to see a discount by now or a new and improved model by now.
